Bangladesh At A Glance

Introduction: the name of my country is Bangladesh. She became free and independent of the 16th December 1971. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. The soil, the sky, and the wind in fact, everything of this country is dear to me.

Situation and area: Bangladesh is a south Asian country. She lies between 20°75 N and 26°75 N latitudes and 88°30 E and 92°75 E longitude. She is surrounded on the west, north and east by Indian territories. The borders on Myanmar are on the southeast. The Bay of Bengal lies on the south. The area of Bangladesh is about 144000 square kilometers. The total population of our country is about 114 million. In point of the sized of population, Bangladesh is the eight largest country is the world.

Crops and fruits: our land is soft and fertile. Our farmers can easily dig, plough and prepare the oil with their simple handmade tools. Ours is a tropical country. As a result, our soil gets enough sun; air and water which make is grow better crops. So our farmers can easily grow lots of jute, paddy, sugarcane, tobacco, oil seeds, vegetables and many other crops. In the eastern and southeastern regions of the country there are a few hilly tracts. These hilly tracts of sylhet and Chittagong produce tea. Tea brings the country a lot of money form foreign countries.

It bears a red circle on the background of green. The color in the background represents the greenery of Bangladesh while the red circle symbolizes the rising sun and the sacrifice of lives in our freedom fight. The national flag was designed by Kamrul Hasan.

Hilsa Fish - national fish of Bangladesh

Tenualosa ilisha (ilish, hilsa, hilsa herring or hilsa shad) is a species of fish in the herring family (Clupeidae), and a popular food fish in South Asia. The fishcontributes about 12% of the total fish production and about 1% of GDP inBangladesh.
Royal Bengal Tiger – The National Animal of Bangladesh
The world largest mangrove forest called by Sundarban. The mangrove forest located south-west to the country.
Royal Bengal Tiger is the most fascinating wild animal today. Royal Bengal Tiger is the national animal of Bangladesh. Naturally Tiger is very strong and powerful animal. Royal Bengal Tiger is reddish orange with narrow black, gray or brown stripes, generally in a vertical direction. The underside is creamy or white; a rare variant has a chalky white coat with darker stripes and ice blue eyes.

The weight of male tiger is about 225 kg, and female is about 135 kg. Royal Bengal Tigers range in length from 1.8 to 2.7 m (6-9 feet), while the length of its tail can be over 90 cm. Its life expectancy is about 15-20 years. The female tiger engender 3-4 cubes after a pregnancy of about 3.5 months. Royal Bengal Tiger is the largest member of the cat family. It is called so because of its Royal look and is available in Bengal (Bangladesh). Their front legs and paws are too strong. They can kill young elephants and rhino. Tigers get their stride suppleness and elasticity from their fore pads of their feet. Their flexible legs allow them to grasp prey.
 Doel- Magpie ( The National Bird)
Doel, the national bird of Bangladesh. It is a very sweet and attractive bird of our country. The color of the bird is a mixture of black and white. Doel is small in size. In the rural areas doel is frequently seen. The doel does not fly very high and it likes to stay close to the earth. stay close to the earth. It feeds on insects.


The jackfruit, also known as jack tree, jakfruit, or sometimes simply jack or jak, is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry and breadfruit family.


Mango is a delicious fruit of Bangladesh. It is found everywhere in Bangladesh. SpeciallyRajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Nawabganj, and Dinajpur . There have many types of mangoes like- Fazlee, Langda, Gopalbogh, Himsagar, Khirsapat, Ashhwina, Khisanbogh, Kuapahadi, Lata Bombai, Foria, Bombai, Kohitoor, Laksmanbhog, Mohanbhog, Misribhog etc.


Natural beauties: Bangladesh is a land of natural beauty. Much of this beauty is contributed by numerous trees of different sizes. They not only add beauty and charm to the land but also make a great source of wealth to the country. Bangladesh is a land of rivers. Few sights of earth can compare in variety and beauty with the sight of a river in Bangladesh. At different times of the day it presents different scenes. Flowers are the special gifts of nature in Bangladesh. They lend color, smell, beauty and charm to the land. Almost every season brings in its own wealth of flowers. Among other natural beauties green paddy fields, tea gardens and hills deserve mention.
Waterlily (Shapla) National Flower of Bangladesh
Shapla (The Water Lily) is the national flower of Bangladesh. It’s found in different Colors, such as White, reddish and light yellow. Basically it is found available in white color . It is the symbol of beauty of Bangladesh.
Water lily is an ornamental plant used most for their beautiful nature. Water lily plants are used by female for their hair decoration. White water lily is available in the country Bangladesh likes lakes and largest ponds. Very cheap flower it is for their natural growing. Sometimes this plant use as vegetables by the poor peoples in Bangladesh.

White water lily is the national flower of Bangladesh which is adopted in 1971. This represents cultural and natural root of this country which is adopted officially. This flower is also the State flower of Andhra Pradesh of India.

The fertile land of Bangladesh has made the production of fruits easy. She produces various kinds of fruits. Most of them of are fleshy. Some of them contain watery juice. The fruits of Bangladesh are mangoes, jackfruits, pineapples, papaws, cocoanuts, oranges, palms, guavas, bananas, litchis, lemons, blackberries, dates, plums, melons, figs native apples, star apples wood apples and pomegranates. The mango is called the prince of fruits. The jackfruit is a giant among fruits. The pineapple is a highly palatable and very health giving fruit. The cocoanut is a common fruit. The orange is a sweet and juicy fruit. The papaw is a delicious and nutritious fruit. The banana is a nice fruit. It is as delicious as it is nutritious. Most of the fruits produced in Bangladesh are health giving.

Conclusion: I love my country very much. I am always ready to die for the good of my country. There is no country in the world just like our country.
